Legal / AI training work

Get paid to train AI as a lawyer.

rustLabs works with practicing attorneys and legal professionals on real legal AI work: reviewing model outputs against case law, drafting tasks a model has to actually solve, and building the rubrics AI labs use to grade legal reasoning. Remote, part-time, on your schedule — you pick up tasks when legal projects open.

What the work actually is

  • Model-output review: grade model answers on contracts, case analysis and memos against your own expertise.
  • Task authoring: write problems a model can't fake — jurisdiction-specific traps, conflicting authority.
  • Rubric design: define what correct legal reasoning looks like so a machine can be scored against it.
  • Red-teaming: probe where legal models give dangerously wrong answers.

Who we look for

  • JD or equivalent legal training and real practice experience.
  • Bar admission helps but isn't required for every task type.
  • Our network spans the US, East Africa, South Asia and more — US-only or EU-only project scoping is common, so say where you're licensed when you apply.

How it works

  • Apply at experts.rustlabs.ai — it takes a few minutes.
  • We review your background; when a legal project opens, we match people by field and results.
  • Accepted work is paid at the project's rate. Identity verification and tax forms are completed before your first payout.

Also staffing medical AI training work and RLHF jobs across every domain. Labs side: what labs hire legal experts for.

Common questions

  • Is legal AI training work legit? rustLabs is a registered company. Accepted work is paid at the project's rate through our payout provider, after identity verification and tax forms. We match experts when legal projects open — we don't promise hours, and no legitimate platform should.
  • Do I need prior AI experience? No. Legal judgment is the skill. Our guides cover the tooling, and your first tasks are matched to your experience.
  • How much can I earn? Work is paid at the project's rate, so earnings depend on the projects you're matched to and the work you complete.
