Expert Code of Conduct

RustLabs matches experts with AI training and evaluation projects that need their expertise: projects we run ourselves and projects we run with partners. Every project comes with standards for the quality of the work, who actually did it, how data is handled, and how the law is followed. This Code is the minimum standard for anyone doing work through RustLabs, on any project. Read it before your first task. You will be asked to confirm it again every year and whenever it materially changes.

Relationship to other documents. This Code supplements the RustLabs Expert Contributor Agreement and the Confidentiality Agreement you signed on the platform. It does not replace them. If anything here conflicts with the Contributor Agreement, the Contributor Agreement controls. Project instructions may add stricter rules for a given project.

• Do your own work. Everything you submit must be created by you, for this project, from scratch. No copying from public benchmarks, published solutions, other platforms, or prior submissions of yours or anyone else's.
• No fabrication, no templating. Don't invent results, pad outputs, reuse a generic template across tasks, or submit work you haven't actually verified.
• No dual submission. Work you produce for a RustLabs project belongs to the project. It may not be submitted, reused, adapted, or shared with any other platform or company, during or after the project.
• Follow the spec. Each project has written instructions, quality criteria, and a review process. Meet them. If something is unclear, ask in the project channel before guessing.
• Be on time. If you won't meet a deadline, say so as early as you can so the task can be reassigned.

• Your account is yours alone. The person who registered the account (and, where a project requires it, was identity-verified) must be the person performing every task under that account.
• Never share your login, password, MFA code, session, device, or platform access with anyone, including a family member or someone "helping." Never let anyone else submit under your name.
• One identity. Don't create a second account, re-register under a different email, or return under another name after being removed.
• Keep your legal name, email, and the country you work from accurate on the platform, and update them if they change. Some projects require us to confirm these before you get access.
• If you suspect someone else is using your account, or another expert is working under someone else's identity, tell us right away (see Section 9).

• You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract.
• You must have the legal right to work as an independent contractor in the country you actually work from, and you are responsible for your own business registration, taxes, and social contributions there.
• No bribes, kickbacks, or improper payments in connection with any project.
• Permitted countries. You may not do work while located in a country subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions, and you may not be on a U.S., EU, UK, or UN sanctions or restricted-party list. If your situation changes, tell us and stop working.

• Non-discrimination. RustLabs does not discriminate in selection, assignment, pay, or removal on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, caste, or any other legally protected characteristic. We expect the same of every expert toward every other expert.
• Voluntary work. All work through RustLabs is voluntary. We do not permit child labor, forced labor, debt bondage, or trafficking at any level.
• Respect. No harassment, threats, or abusive conduct toward other experts, the RustLabs team, or project partners.
• Non-retaliation. You will not be penalized for raising a concern in good faith about pay, conduct, safety, or a possible violation of this Code or the law.
• Raising a concern. Use the support option in the platform or email hello@rustlabs.ai. We acknowledge within 5 business days, look into it, and reply with an outcome. Pay disputes are also covered by the 10-business-day dispute window in the Contributor Agreement. We keep a record of every concern and its resolution.

Your Confidentiality Agreement governs the details. In practice:

• Don't discuss project details (partner names, pay rates, task specifications, sample tasks, training materials, review results) with anyone outside the project team, including experts on other projects.
• Don't post about, reference, or screenshot any project, partner, task, or platform on social media, forums, Discord servers, portfolios, or resumes. A generic description of the type of work is fine.
• Don't share project data with any person or system that isn't authorized for the project.

• Use MFA wherever a platform offers it, and always where a project requires it.
• Location tools. Don't use a VPN, proxy, or similar tool to mask your location or identity on a project platform or during identity verification. If a project needs you to use one, we'll say so in writing.
• Keep project materials on the project's platform. Don't copy, download, photograph, screen-record, or save task data to personal devices or personal accounts unless the project instructions allow it, and don't keep copies after the project ends.
• Never paste project data into an external AI tool, translation service, public website, or personal account.
• Work where others can't see your screen, and keep your device updated and locked. Don't use shared or public computers for project work.
• Report incidents immediately (a lost or stolen device, a compromised password, an accidental share, or anything that looks like a security problem) via the platform support option or hello@rustlabs.ai, copying bz@rustlabs.ai, the notice address in your Contributor Agreement. Report first, figure it out second.

• Use only the platforms, tools, and systems the project instructions permit. If a tool isn't listed, assume it isn't allowed and ask.
• Many projects prohibit AI assistants, LLMs, machine translation, code generators, or automation entirely; others allow specific tools for specific steps. The project instructions say which. Follow them exactly.
• Be honest about how the work was made. Never misrepresent AI-assisted work as unassisted, or vice versa. If a project asks you to disclose tool use, disclose it fully.
• Projects audit for unauthorized AI use. Flagged submissions are not paid, and repeated violations end your participation (see Section 10).

• If asked, disclose whether you are doing substantially similar work for a project partner's competitor at the same time. Disclosure usually just means you're assigned elsewhere; hiding it is a violation.
• Report suspected violations of this Code by anyone (account sharing, identity substitution, unauthorized AI use, data leaks) through the platform support option or hello@rustlabs.ai. Good-faith reports are protected under Section 5.

Depending on severity, violations of this Code may result in:

• removal from a task, project, or channel;
• suspension or termination of your platform access;
• no payment for work that violates this Code, as set out in the Contributor Agreement;
• removal at a project partner's request, which we must honor;
• reporting to law enforcement or regulators where conduct may be unlawful.

Payment for compliant, accepted work is never withheld because of an unrelated violation.

Some projects add rules: security controls, approved devices, restricted regions, extra confidentiality terms, or required training or certifications. When a project has them, RustLabs will tell you in the project instructions. Complete any required training before starting and keep required certifications current while you're on the project. Project rules add to this Code; they never lower it.

By acknowledging this Code on the RustLabs platform, you confirm that you have read it, understand it, and agree to follow it as a condition of performing work through RustLabs.

You must acknowledge this Code:

• before starting work on any project;
• annually thereafter; and
• within 14 days of being notified of a material update.

Your acknowledgment is recorded electronically on the platform (date, time, document version, and a fingerprint of the exact text) and retained by RustLabs.
